Rome is showcasing Fernando Botero
from Wednesday until October 1 with eight monumental works by
the late Colombian sculptor placed in eight iconic sites around
the Italian capital.
The Terrazza del Pincio, Piazza del Popolo, Largo San Carlo,
Piazza di San Lorenzo in Lucina, Piazza Mignanelli and Piazza
San Silvestro will display some of the most famous sculptures of
the artist known for his generously proportioned figures who
died last September aged 91.
"Italy was my father Fernando Botero's second home and I think
that nothing could have brought him more pleasure than seeing
his monumental sculptures exhibited today in the heart of this
extraordinary city, which influenced his work so much," said his
daughter Lina, who has helped organise the "diffused show".
