Easter will be much dearer this year
due to eye-watering cost of living hikes on all expenses linked
to the festivities, consumer group Assoutenti said Wednesday.
A home-cooked Easter dinner will cost an average 6% more than
last year after twin-figure hikes in many ingredients, said the
association.
It won't go much better for those hitting the restaurant for
their Easter lunch, with menu hikes forecast to be an average
5%.
And travelling by car will be another bigger drain on household
finances this year, Assoutenti said, with petrol 12.2% up on
average and diesel a whopping 22.7% dearer than last Easter.
Other consumer groups have said Italians will spend some 100
million euros more on their Easter dinners this year.
