At the prestigious Dzyga Centre and Art Gallery in Lviv, Ukraine, a preview screening of the docu-film "Sirkó", a project developed by the Italian Cultural Institute and the Embassy, was held in the presence of the Italian Ambassador Pier Francesco Zazo and the Director of the Institute of Culture, Carlo Colonnella.
"Sirkó" is a work that recounts the suffering of Ukrainian families during the war through the eyes of a four-legged friend, a dog named Sirkó. The documentary skilfully mixes historical and narrative elements and aims to help investigate the more psychological aspects of the conflict. Using a special technique, including cartoon sequences, the work pays homage to the city of Lviv, which houses some of the Embassy offices and where all the scenes were filmed.
The docu-film is the brainchild of Edoardo Crisafulli, former director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Ukraine, directed by Gioia Perpetua, with the support of the President of Ffun Sdg (Foundation For United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) Maurizio Aronica, as Executive Producer, and the Molodist Film Festival of Kiev.
"I am proud as an Italian and as Ambassador that our institutions, the Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute, have never left Ukrainian territory: a concrete gesture of solidarity that the Ukrainian authorities greatly appreciated," recalled the head of mission.
Ambassador Zazo, in greeting the audience at the end of his mandate in Ukraine, valorised 'the heroism and strength of the Ukrainian people, whose struggle for freedom recalls the most beautiful pages of the Italian Risorgimento'.
