The Mattei Plan takes a new step forward, with the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding between Italy and Egypt for the Strengthening of Technical and Vocational Training, which took place on the sidelines of the EU-Egypt Investment Conference underway in Cairo.
Last 17 March in Cairo, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the Minister of Education, Giuseppe Valditara, had signed with his Egyptian counterpart, Reda Hegazy, a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at promoting the Italian language and the excellence of Italian vocational education in Egypt, to promote the acquisition of technical skills tailored to the needs of the Italian and Egyptian production system.
Today, in order to give concrete momentum to these initiatives, the first two implementing agreements of that Memorandum were signed in the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ayman Ashour, and the Italian Ambassador in Cairo, Michele Quaroni.
The first Memorandum of Understanding initiates a collaboration between the Its Malignani of Udine, Danieli industrie, the Don Bosco Institute in Cairo and the New Cairo Technological University (NCTU), for the creation of an educational offer in the field of mechatronics.
The second, on the other hand, launches an educational offer in the biomedical sector, between the Its Nuove Tecnologie della Vita Academy Foundation of Bergamo, the Polygon Company of Milan, the Don Bosco Institute of Cairo and the Egyptian Technological University '6 Ottobre'.
The aim of these understandings - it was explained - is to enhance the talents of students and develop skills that are fundamental for personal and territorial growth, while also contributing to Italy's growing need for specialised manpower and at the same time strengthening the paths of regular immigration to our country.
"These Memorandums of Understanding are part of a broader strategy promoted by the Italian government through the Mattei Plan, aimed at improving the level of technical and professional skills of Egyptian students and fostering legal immigration paths in key sectors for Italy and its companies," said the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, commenting from Italy on the signing of the agreements.
The Ambassador of Italy in Egypt, Michele Quaroni, also clarified that the strategy behind these Memoranda will soon benefit from the creation of an Egyptian-Italian Employment Centre in Cairo to promote vocational training and orientation paths to both the Egyptian and Italian labour markets.
