Italy, with a Sicilian company from Bagheria, took part in the world's most important fireworks competition held every year in La Ronde, Montreal's main amusement park. The Loto-Québec International Fireworks Festival, also known as the 'Montreal Fireworks Festival', is held every summer and is attended by companies from all over the world who each present a 30-minute pyromusical show. Trophies, called 'Jupiter' (gold, silver and bronze), are awarded to the winners in early August. The event attracts an estimated crowd of 3 million spectators each year and features more than 6,000 fireworks.
The Consulate General of Italy in Montreal explains that 'the extraordinary show by the Bagheria company combined fireworks with Italian song. We wish our fireworks company good luck for the continuation of the competition, which will end on 1 August'. The company la Rosa di Bagheria has been active in the setting up and production of firework shows at an international level since 1945.
