The Italian carrier strike group made up of the aircraft carrier Cavour, the Navy's flagship, and the frigate Alpino, will land in Darwin (Australia) from 12 July to 2 August to take part in the 'Pitch Black 2024' air exercise, a large-scale training exercise with 20 nations including the United States, Great Britain, France and countries from the Indo-Pacific region: the Italian Embassy in Canberra announced in a note.
During the stopover, the ship Cavour, moored at the Kuru Wharf of the Hmaas Coonawarra naval base, will be open for visits on Sunday 21 July from 3pm to 7pm. The units, which departed from Taranto last June 1, are engaged in a strategic deployment in the Indo-Pacific, which is essential for increasing interoperability and cooperation with the navies of allied and partner countries.
