The Italian Ambassador to Croatia, Paolo Trichilo, met the Minister for Science and Education, Radovan Fuchs. Among the topics that were reviewed, also following the last meeting of the Italy-Croatia Ministerial Coordination Committee, was the strengthening of cooperation in the field of researcher mobility and alliances between EU universities through joint training and mobility schemes for professors, researchers and students. Regarding cooperation between the respective scientific institutions and in joint projects for the EU research programme Horizon, Ambassador Trichilo recalled his visit to the Rudjer Boskovic Institute where several Italian researchers work. Thanking the Minister for the measures taken so far, he also expressed the hope for a further strengthening of the dissemination of Italian language teaching in Croatian schools, as well as the role played by the schools of the Italian national community in Croatia.
Also discussed was Croatia's possible membership of the Scientific Committee and Board of Government Representatives of the Einstein Telescope project, the latest-generation observatory for gravitational waves that Italy is a candidate to host (in Sardinia), with regard to which the Croatian side expressed interest, requesting more detailed information.
