A delegation from the Mission Structure of the Mattei Plan and the energy subsidiaries Enel and Eni, accompanied by the Italian Ambassador to Tunisia, Alessandro Prunas, was received in Tunis by the Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, Fatma Thabet, and the Secretary of State for Energy Transition, Wael Chouchane.
The aim of the meeting was to discuss the possibility of collaborating on the joint development of a pilot project for the production of renewable hydrogen in Tunisia, as part of the implementation of the Mattei Plan for Africa and in the broader perspective of energy integration between North Africa and Europe, with Italy as the hub for European energy needs. The initiative aims to enable the full development of the green hydrogen supply chain in Tunisia, verifying the conditions for its technical implementation and accelerating the development of regulatory aspects. Furthermore, in the spirit of partnership on which the Mattei Plan is based, the initiative envisages the direct involvement of Tunisian companies and operators in the development and implementation of the project for the benefit of skills transfer, including through potential collaboration with Tunisian and Italian research centres and universities.
