Overtures, preludes, interludes and endings of the great Italian operas were the protagonists of the concert, in honour of Puccini, performed by the Shanghai Nantong University Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Roberto Fiore. The concert, which was also broadcast live on radio, was attended by the Consul General of Italy in Shanghai, Tiziana D'Angelo, and the University Rector, Yang Yumin.
The orchestra, founded by Maestro Fiore in 2021, has around 70 musicians including students from the university, alumni and foreign performers. Nantong University has been collaborating for years with the 'Rinaldo Franci' Conservatory of Siena on an exchange programme focusing on music education, which has brought Chinese students to Italy and professionals to China for teaching programmes.
