An extraordinary success marked the Australian debut of the young and talented Italian violinist Lucilla Rose Mariotti, who last night enchanted an audience of over 600 people in the majestic setting of the Winthrop Hall in Perth for the 'Vivaldi Gala Night - Journey to Italy', a musical journey through 300 years of Italian classical music. Mariotti played as soloist, captivating the audience with his masterful interpretation of Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons, performed on a 1709 Stradivarius.
The evening, devised and organised by the Italian Consulate in Perth, ended with a standing ovation from the audience, captivated by the elegance and technical perfection of the young Italian artist, who also performed the premiere in Australia of the Romance in D major op. 9 by composer Alfredo D'Ambrosio.
During her stay in Perth, Lucilla Rose Mariotti also held master classes with young Western Australian musicians at the prestigious PLC College, recording the unanimous appreciation of students, parents and professors for the Italian violinist's exceptional talent and mature teaching approach.
The Consul of Italy in Perth, Sergio Federico Nicolaci, said, 'We are proud of the extraordinary reception given by the Australian public to Lucilla Mariotti, an Italian violinist who is already internationally recognised for her interpretative skills and exceptional talent, and who at only 23 years of age is also a world ambassador of the Stradivari, one of the highest expressions of the renowned Italian art of violin making. We are proud to help promote an innovative image of Italian creativity, art and culture at all levels'.
After the success in Perth, Lucilla Rose Mariotti will continue her Australian tour with two more concerts in Brisbane and Sydney, in an integrated promotion initiative promoted by the Italian diplomatic-consular network in Australia.
