'To put Colombia on the map of Italian exporters'. This is the objective that Sace, the Italian investment promotion agency, has set itself with the opening in Bogotá of a new regional office in Latin America, the third after those in Sao Paulo and Mexico City. This was stated by Michal Ron, Chief International Business Officer of the agency, who was present in the Colombian capital for the inauguration of the local office that aims to open "new routes of opportunity for Made in Italy companies" mainly in the energy transition sector.
"In 2022, the exchange of goods between Colombia and Italy reached $2.2 billion, the highest figure in the last decade, a significant milestone that underlines the strength of our bilateral relations and highlights the great interest in our investment opportunities," Ron added. Sace's international manager then recalled that "with a billion euro worth of guarantees in its portfolio in sectors such as infrastructure, utilities, machinery and technology, green energy, consumer goods and food & beverage, Colombia is a market full of opportunities in the sectors of the future".
Also present at the inauguration was Ambassador Giancarlo Maria Curcio, according to whom Sace's decision to establish the regional office for all of South America in Bogotá "demonstrates the importance of Colombia as an investment hub and the friendship and closeness with Italy". "The presence of Sace will give a greater boost to economic activity between the two countries," Curcio added.
Colombia is the fifth destination market in Latin America for Italian exporters and is one of the high-potential markets identified in Sace's 'Doing Export Report 2024' with an estimated growth of 5.7%.
