The Day of Italian Sport in the World was also celebrated in Zagreb with a crowded 6.3 km non-competitive run around Lake Jarun in the Croatian capital. The initiative had a special focus on the Italian National Community (Cni) in the country, having been organised in partnership with the Italian Union and the Community of Italians in Zagreb, as well as Italian sponsors such as Gran Cereale (Barilla) and Aquafil, and the local Ministry of Sport and Tourism, also within the framework of the European Be Active campaign. In addition to the messages from the Italian coaches of the Croatian football league Tramezzani (Istra/Pola) and Coppitelli (Osijek), Giovanni Cernogoraz, the Olympic clay pigeon shooting champion (Olympic fossa speciality) was the testimonial of the day as the Croatian national team member and member of the Cni. The opening greetings were presented by the Secretary of State for Sport Josip Pavic (former Olympic water polo champion), Marin Corva (President of the Executive Board of the Italian Union) and the Ambassador of Italy to Croatia Paolo Trichilo, who, before taking part in the race, highlighted the value of the Foreign Ministry's initiative to underline the importance of Italian sport as a vector of friendship, an example of healthy living and an economic driver.
