Yesterday evening, as part of the third edition of the International Youth Theatre Festival "Igor Madzirov", the original and engaging performance entitled "Asola & Bottone -Storia di un sarto e della sua anima", co-produced by Illoco Teatro and Straligut di Toscana and supported by the Italian Embassy in Skopje - inspired by the short story The Lost Soul by Olga Tokarczuk, Nobel Prize for Literature in 2018 - took place.
The non-verbal performance conducted by just two actors - the extraordinary Annarita Colucci and Dario Carbone - through the metaphor of tailoring, - brought to the stage the story of a tailor who, in the transition from childhood to adulthood, loses his soul - the most authentic, pure and dreamy part that lives in each of us - but thanks to a mysterious and dusty album of memories will be driven to look for it in order to find himself and his 'integrity'.
The non-verbal performance, based on the interweaving of actor's theatre, figure theatre and manipulation of space, enchanted the audience, composed mainly of children, with its poetic and visual narration. The young spectators were, in fact, fascinated by the play of light and images projected onto fabrics that became screens, by the scenographic transformations in real time, by the techniques of stagecraft, of pulls, weights and counterweights that were visible to the audience, creating a magical tale where the two protagonists, like a buttonhole and its button, try to reunite.
