A conference was held at the Tallinn Polytechnic University 'Travelling Together Towards the New Frontier - Space Cooperation between Italy and Estonia', organised by the Italian Embassy in Tallinn in cooperation with ICE. This was announced by the Italian Embassy in the Estonian capital.
Inaugurating the event, the Italian Ambassador to Estonia, Stefano Catani, emphasised the importance of space cooperation between Italy and Estonia and Italy's long history in space exploration, which began with the launch of the San Marco satellite on 16 December 1964.
Catani also illustrated the excellence achieved by Italy and Estonia in the field of launchers, satellites and digital technology, as well as the importance of scientific cooperation for innovation.
The conference, which followed the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the aerospace engineering departments of TalTech and Rome's La Sapienza University and focused on cooperation in the fields of nano-satellites, robotics and AI, was moderated by Fabrizio Piergentili and Raivo Kasepuu, signatories of the memorandum for their respective universities.
The conference was also an opportunity to inaugurate the exhibition 'The Italian Spaceway', which can be visited at the Tallinn Polytechnic's premises until 18 November.
