Tomorrow, at the Turk Telekom Opera Hall of Istanbul's prestigious Ataturk Kultur Merkezi, Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem will be staged, under the baton of maestro Andrea Francesco Solinas and featuring the world-famous opera singer Ferruccio Furlanetto (bass), together with Evren Eksi (soprano), Ezgi Karakaya (mezzo-soprano) and Aydın Ustuk (tenor), while the choir will be conducted by maestro Paolo Villa. The event is presented by the Italian Embassy in Ankara and the Italian Cultural Institute in Istanbul, in collaboration with the city's State Opera and Ballet (IDOB).
After the extraordinary success in December 2023, with the performance held in Ankara, on the occasion of the celebrations of the Centenary of the Turkish Republic and the friendship between Italy and Turkey, Verdi's Messa da Requiem, arrives in Istanbul, again under the baton of maestro Solinas, and with the extraordinary participation of Ferruccio Furlanetto, an acclaimed opera performer, at the peak of an international career that has seen him tread the world's most important opera stages. "We are proud to bring back to Turkey an opera of such extraordinary prestige as Verdi's Requiem, under the baton of Maestro Solinas and with the interpretation of one of the world's best voices of Italian opera such as Ferruccio Furlanetto, in collaboration with extraordinary Turkish opera singers and the Istanbul Opera and Ballet. This concert celebrates the inclusion of opera singing in Italy in the UNESCO World Heritage list and at the same time the deep Italian-Turkish friendship, which is extraordinarily manifested through this concert," said the Italian Ambassador to Turkey, Giorgio Marrapodi.
