The ninth edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World in Argentina, which opened yesterday, also includes initiatives for social and community inclusion, developed in collaboration with the local Community of Sant'Egidio. These activities," underlines a communiqué, "bring the values of Italian cuisine, such as hospitality and a sense of community, to the most disadvantaged sectors, thus promoting a true 'culture of solidarity,' strengthening the role of our gastronomic heritage as an agent of social cohesion in Argentina.
In this context, the Italian Embassy in the South American country today offered a solidarity lunch to members of the most disadvantaged community in the Sant'Egidio House of Friendship, in Buenos Aires. "Italian culinary culture is also solidarity, especially in a country like Argentina that has very strong ties with Italy. For this reason, in the programme of the Italian Cooking Week we have included this special event, which falls on the World Day of the Poor. Thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Chefs of Buenos Aires (BACI) and in an atmosphere of great closeness, we offered meals to about 100 people inside the Sant'Egidio House of Friendship,' explained Ambassador Fabrizio Lucentini, who attended the event with the Consul General, Carmelo Barbera.
