The Central Bank of Tunisia team won the fifth edition of the Italian Republic Day tournament, a friendly football event that brings Italy and Tunisia together every year in an atmosphere of fair play and conviviality. The Central Bank beat the Tunisian-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the final 4-3 on penalties, on the pitch of the Juventus Academy Tunisia football school. In third place Italcar won over Almaviva.
There were seven teams competing for first place: the Italian Embassy in Tunisia, the Italian Club of Tunis, the Central Bank of Tunisia, the Italian School, the Tunisian-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Almaviva and Italcar. New for this edition is the mandatory presence of at least two women in each team. In addition to promoting sport and health, the tournament represents an important opportunity to strengthen ties between Italy and Tunisia, said the organisers of the Circolo Italiano, emphasising that it is a moment of encounter and cultural exchange, involving representatives of the institutions, businesses and civil society of the two countries.
The Juventus Academy Tunisia, which hosted the event, is a football school for young people aged 4 to 16, the first football academy officially approved by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Tunisian Football Federation.
