Within the framework of the 9th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, the Hospitality Awards UK was held in London, a gala event hosted in the prestigious Law Society venue and dedicated to the celebration of Italian excellence in the hospitality and cuisine sector.
Supported and promoted for the second year running by the Consulate General of Italy in London, the evening honoured chefs, restaurateurs and professionals who have distinguished themselves on the British scene. The Hospitality Award, born from the collaboration between the Consulate General, the UK Confederation - a non-profit organisation that brings together young Italian entrepreneurs - and the Association of Professional Italian Chefs in the UK (APCI UK), saw the awarding of 16 prizes. Among the award categories were best chef, restaurateur, restaurant, barman, sommelier, pizza chef, cookbook author, hotel manager and best gelato shop.
The evening was opened by the Consul General of Italy in London, Domenico Bellantone, who in his speech emphasised how the theme of the 9th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, 'Mediterranean Diet and Roots Cuisine: Health and Tradition', highlighted this year the traditional heritage of Italian cuisine and its essential role in promoting health and well-being, within a balanced and sustainable lifestyle.
