The Italian Embassy in Bogotá celebrated with the Italian community, entrepreneurs, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, and special guests the 9th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, in an event organised at the residence of Ambassador Giancarlo Maria Curcio.
"It is the festival of cuisine, it is the festival of flavours and not of words," Curcio said, welcoming the festivities, recalling that "this is the ninth year that Italy has held this event, to exalt the Italian cuisine that is famous all over the world."
The menu for the event was the responsibility of renowned chef Michele Tomadin, who explained the benefits of Italian food, its nutritional value and the relationship between food and health. "Italian food is very healthy, very wholesome, because it is made with mostly fresh foods that are the mainstay of the Mediterranean diet," said Tomadin.
During the event, the Ambassador presented the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic to the president of the Italian School Leonardo Da Vinci, Fosco Zorio, who is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Colombia. The honour was awarded 'for his contribution to social, commercial and cultural issues between the two countries'.
