A resounding success for the 'Earth Mela 2024', the sustainable market-festival promoted in New Delhi, in the Embassy gardens, by the Italian Association in India (AiiI) in collaboration with the Italian Embassy. "We are thrilled with the outcome of this initiative," said the President of the Association, Francesca Barolo.
"I would like to thank all the volunteers and the Embassy for their cooperation and support. Our festival, which was just in its second edition, has been one of the most popular pre-Christmas events in the Indian capital: we have grown from 40 stands last year to 100 this year; on the first day we had 15 thousand visitors, on the second another 18 thousand".
"With the funds raised," added the president of AiiI, which was officially constituted just over a year ago, "we will be able to support much more generously the charitable initiatives of the two local associations that we already help and expand our solidarity commitment.
The 'Earth Mela 2024' (mela is the Hindi term for festival), was officially inaugurated on Saturday morning by Ambassador Antonio Bartoli, who emphasised, among other things, the commitment to the sustainability of the event and had among its most touching moments the performance by a group of girls from a slum who, prepared by the Association's volunteers, enjoyed reciting and singing Christmas carols, performing in public for the first time.
