The Festival of Italian Literature and Culture in Paris 'Italissimo' celebrates ten years since its creation.
Since the first edition in 2016, there have been more than three hundred Italian and French guests, two hundred and sixty meetings, readings, performances and screenings in twenty different venues.
Ten years of dialogue between Italian and French culture, ten years of discoveries and exchanges. And to celebrate this anniversary, the new edition of the Festival, which opens on 1 April and ends on the 6th, is even richer in proposals.
At the opening of the festival, Silvia Avallone and Sylvain Prudhomme will talk at Sciences Po. Then, the public will find in the programme the presence of writers such as Dacia Maraini, Emanuele Trevi, Erri De Luca, Gianrico Carofiglio, Donatella Di Pietrantonio, Viola Ardone, Paolo Cognetti, Milena Agus, Carlo Lucarelli, but also several new writers of Italian literature such as Francesca Giannone, Giacinta Cavagna di Gualdana, Monica Acito, Matteo Bianchi or Greta Olivo. French authors include Laurent Gaudé, Daniel Pennac who will read Antonio Moresco and Pierre Adrian with a literary concert for Cesare Pavese.
An evening will be dedicated to Umberto Eco at the Bibliothèque nationale de France. To mark the centenary of Andrea Camilleri's birth, a tribute evening will be dedicated to him at the Casa della Poesia with Carlo Lucarelli and Serge Quadruppani. Finally, Alessandro Baricco, who pioneered the festival in 2016, will be on the bill for the closing meeting. And as always, the Festiva will also offer film screenings, exhibitions, school meetings, writing and translation workshops, and literary aperitifs. Signing the poster for this tenth edition of the Festival is artist Lorenzo Mattotti, who illustrated the 1st edition of the festival.
The 2025 edition of 'Italissimo' is promoted by the Italian Embassy in France, Ice (Foreign Trade Agency), the Centre for Books and Reading (Ministry of Culture), the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris, the Consulate General of Italy in Paris and. among others, Banca Monte Paschi, Castaldi Partners, La Dante Paris and Sorbonne University.
