Italy has seen a chilling number of
coronavirus deaths at over 12,000, Foreign Minister Luigi Di
Maio said Wednesday urging people to stay at home.
Speaking after welcoming an aid flight from Turkey Di Maio
said "Italy is a country with a chilling number of deaths, I'm
thinking about Bergamo, Brescia and the other most-hit
provinces.
"Our thought go out to them at this moment of great
difficulty, which can only be recompensed with hard work and by
respecting the rules, stay at home".
Di Maio said an ordinance allowing children outside for one
walk per day with one parent "doesn't mean we should all start
going out now".
The decree has caused a row in Italy with regional governors
arguing it raises risks of contagion and infection.
