Italian President Sergio Mattarella stressed the need to take action to combat the climate crisis after meeting Kenyan President William Ruto at the State House in Nairobi on Tuesday.
"We see alarming signs of climate change," Mattarella said.
"We see serious symptoms such as drought, which have serious
consequences.
"This is why we call for decisive progress on the path of
measures to combat climate change".
The Italian head of State hailed Kenya was a "pillar of
stability on the African continent.
"We want to intensify cooperation with Kenya," he added.
"Italy considers Kenya to be a virtuous example of democracy and
a model of virtuous, sustainable growth.
