The supreme Court of Cassation on
Thursday upheld a ten-year term for former economy
undersecretary and
ex-People of Freedom (PdL) coordinator Nicola Cosentino for
helping the Neapolitan Camorra mafia, and specifically being a
"reference point" for the notorious Casalesi clan whose death
threats have forced anti-mafia writer Roberto Saviano into
police protection.
Cosentino was elected MP four times between 1996-2008
as a member of three-time premier Silvio Berlusconi's
now-defunct PdL
Jail terms for his brothers, Giovanni and Antonio, were also
upheld, becoming definitive.
