Premier Giorgia Meloni told a meeting
of officials from the areas hit by last month's devastating
floods in Italy that a task force would decided how to move
forward with the reconstruction effort until an emergency
commissioner is appointed.
Two separate waves of extreme weather claimed a total of 17
lives in Emilia Romagna and caused massive damage to
infrastructure and the the economy there and in parts of Marche
and Tuscany.
"This is a operative task force that serves to decide on the
interventions necessary to address the damage, and discuss how
best to act," Meloni told a meeting with the three regions'
governors and the heads of the provinces affected.
"It will be a permanent task force which, during the wait for
the commissioner's office to be set, will be coordinated within
the (central) government by (Civil Protection) Minister (Nello)
Musumeci".
