Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi
said Friday he was confident of reaching a deal with the
organisers of pro-Palestinian marches scheduled for Saturday in
major Italian cities so they can be put off so as not to clash
with Holocaust Remembrance Day amid fears of ani-Israeli or even
antisemitic incidents.
He said Milan's prefect had already decided to postpone the
planned march and "for Rome we decide today".
Piantedosi said "discussions are underway with the organisers in
order to reach a shared decision on the postponement of the
demonstration for security reasons, with the hope that the
Viminale's indication to postpone the procession will be
accepted."
