Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Thursday reiterated Italy's condemnation of Hamas after the October 7 massacres, saying that the Islamist group was "worse than the Gestapo and the SS.
"Hamas is a terrorist organization that organized a Jew hunt on October 7, carrying out acts that no one in the world had ever carried out," Tajani told Mediaset television.
"They are worse than than the Gestapo and the SS. That says it all".
The minister also commented on the row that has erupted between the Vatican and Israel, after the Israeli embassy to the Holy See described as "deplorable" Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin's comment that the reaction to the October 7 attack was disproportionate. "It is a moment of great tension provoked by the war," Tajani said when asked about the row.
Earlier this week Tajani himself said the response to the October 7 massacres has become disproportionate because it is causing too many civilian victims in Gaza.
