The government has earmarked 50
million euro for 15 areas of social deprivation and educational
poverty in Italy, the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social
Policies Maria Teresa Bellucci told a press conference at
Palazzo Chigi Wednesday.
She said the money would go towards implementing "coordinated
actions in 15 strategic socio-educational areas for minors and
families living in neighbourhoods at greater risk of social
degradation thanks to an alliance between the public, private
and private-social sectors".
The initiative has been promoted by the Strategic Steering
Committee of the Fund for Combating Juvenile Educational
Poverty, set up at the Prime Minister's Office.
