Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban
said Wednesday that he can see Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni
leading Europe's conservatives.
Orban has good relations with Meloni, the leader of the
right-wing Brothers of Italy (FdI) party that is part of the
European Conservatives and Reformists Party (ECR).
"I said in the past that Hungary was too small to support a
conservative movement in Europe on its own, and this is still
true today," Orban told the 'National Conservatism' conference
of right-wing groups in Brussels.
"But things are changing, Italy has a conservative prime
minister and she can now lead European conservatives.
"In France things are going to change. The forces on the field
are different."
