Premier Giorgia Meloni is blaming
other governments for the faults of her own, centre-left
opposition Democratic Party (PD) leader Elly Schelin said at
Trento's Economy Festival a few hours after the PM had lambasted
"the left's disasters on labour" at the same event.
"If the left had always done the right thing then someone like
me wouldn't have won the PD primaries," Schelin admitted.
But she said she wanted to ask Meloni "for how long, after 19
months of government, does she intend to pass the blame onto
previous governments instead of assuming her own
responsibilities."
The PD leader added that she was ready to debate Meloni
"anywhere and in any way" in the run-up to the June 8-9 European
elections, after a scheduled TV debate between the two leaders
fell through on equal time concerns.
