Rome's Spallanzani
infectious-diseases hospital will start experimentation on the
Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine in collaboration with Russia's
Gamaleya Institute after Easter, sources said Friday.
The research will go in two directions, the sources said.
One line of experimentation will focus on the effectiveness of
Sputnik V against new COVID strains, especially the Brazilian,
South African and British variants, the sources said.
The other will look at the giving Sputnik V as a second dose on
people who have had the first doses of a vaccine with a similar
structure, such as the AstraZeneca one, the sources said.
The Gamaleya Institute will provide 100 doses for the first
phase of testing.
