Ecological Transition Minister Roberto
Cingolani said Thursday that new generation nuclear power could
not be ruled out as part of clean energy plans amid the climate
crisis.
"I'm not referring to the old nuclear power, let that be clear,"
Cingolani said at an EU ministerial summit on energy.
"I don't consider the first, second or third generation new
technologies in this moment in time.
"But I believe that, for the future of our children and
grandchildren, small modular reactors and above all fusion
cannot be excluded from a much more advanced energy future than
2030".
