Italy's Margherita Panziera won the
gold medal Friday in the women's 200m backstroke at the European
swimming championships in Rome.
The 27-year-old from Montebelluna came in in a fast time of
2:07:13 ahead of Britain's Katie Shanahan in second and
Hungary's Dora Molnar who got the bronze.
It is Italy's third gold medal at the championships after
Alberto Razzetti of Lavagna near Genoa won the men's 400m
individual medley and Giorgio Minisini became the first ever to
win the solo technical event in men's synchronized swimming.
