Naples erupted with joy on Thursday
when the southern city's soccer team Napoli clinched the third
Serie A title of their history with a 1-1 draw at Udinese.
Fireworks were set off in the city as soon as the final whistle
was blown, with motorists and scooter riders honking their horns
and fans hugging and singing in the streets.
"It's a historic day, thank you Napoli," said one fan, who was
in tears.
Although the game was away from home, Napoli's Stadio Diego
Maradona was full with around 50,000 supporters who watched the
match on big screens.
There were also thousands of Napoli's fans at Udinese's ground,
where there were scenes of chaos when some fans invaded he pitch
to celebrate the title triumph, although order was quickly
restored.
