A criminal probe in Italy into the
2022 sale of AC Milan by America's Elliott investment fund to
Gerry Cardinale's RedBird group is looking at the price of the
transaction, among other things, sources said on Wednesday.
The club was formally bought for around 1.2 billion euros, a
figure that was widely considered very high.
AC Milan Managing Director Giorgio Furlani and his predecessor
Ivan Gazidis are under investigation and the club's offices were
searched on Tuesday in relation to the probe.
Prosecutors say the Elliott Fund is still the club's true owner
and the money for the acquisition did not come from RedBird.
