Italian tennis sensation Jannik Sinner
has expressed his surprise at becoming the world number two
after his outstanding form continued with his victory at the
Miami Open last weekend.
"Being number two means a lot to me, but more importantly, it
was a great performance for me, especially in that semi-final
and final, which for me it's more important," Australian Open
champion Sinner told a news conference.
"Being number two is an amazing feeling.
"I never thought to come to this point. I come from a very
normal family.
"My dad is still working, as is my mom, too. For me, sport is
one thing, and life is different. I'm very happy to be in this
position."
The 22-year-old can now start his bid to overtake tennis great
Novak Djokovic and become the world's top-ranked player.
At the moment, 1.015 points are between them.
