Mobile barriers and controlled
checkpoints will be set up in the Piazza di Spagna area for the
Europa League match between Roma and Eintracht scheduled for
Thursday at the Olimpico, according to a security plan developed
by Rome Police Headquarters and issued Tuesday.
The iconic Roman square's famed Barcaccia fountain was
vandalized in 2015 by Feyenoord ultras.
"The strategy launched is that of the double track - underlines
the Police Headquarters," said the police.
"The visiting fans will be welcomed by the city and will receive
every type of assistance.
There will be no discount for the violent." For weeks, police said, the DIGOS special security branch has been busy tracking the names of Eintracht Frankfurt fans who have been involved in episodes of violence during away matches in Italy.
