Italy keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma hit
out at his critics after he saved two penalties in a shootout in
Paris Saint Germain's last-16 return leg against Liverpool at
Anfield on Tuesday to send the French side into the
quarter-finals.
The 26-year-old, who saved penalties by Darwin Nunez and Curtis
Jones, had come under fire over the goal Liverpool scored in
their 1-0 win in the first leg in Paris.
"I get a lot of criticism from journalists who are ignorant
about the role of the goalkeeper," Donnarumma said.
"In the first leg we conceded one shot and one goal.
"It seemed like it was my fault.
But I always remind myself that
I have to smile, and work hard for the good of the team".
