Vatican Secretary of State Pietro
Parolin said Saturday that Pope Francis was doing well after
undergoing abdominal surgery on Wednesday to fix a hernia caused
by a 2021 operation and and wants to get back to his duties as
soon as possible.
"The pope is well. The operation went well," Cardinal Parolin
said on the sidelines of the "Not Alone" World Meeting on Human
Fraternity event.
"The pope has expressed the desire to resume work".
He added that the doctors at Rome's Gemelli hospital will decide
when he can be discharged.
The Vatican Press Office said early on Saturday that the
Argentine pontiff's third night in hospital went well.
