Pope Francis said Wednesday that he
will publish a second version of his Laudato si' (Praise Be to
You) encyclical on October 4.
In the 2015 encyclical "on care for our common home", the
Argentine pontiff criticized consumerism and environmental
degradation, and callred for action to combat global warming.
"The day after tomorrow, September 1, the World Day of Prayer
for Creation will be celebrated, opening the time of creation
that will last until October 4," Francis said at the end of his
weekly general audience.
"On that day I intend to publish an exhortation, a second
Laudato
sì".
October 4 is a significant day for the Catholic Church as it is
the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi.
