Ukrainian President Volodymyr
Zelensky told Rai TV Saturday that he respected Pope Francis
amid reports of a so-far secret Vatican peace plan but that
Ukraine did not need mediators.
"With all respect for His Holiness, we do not need mediators, we
need a just peace," Zelensky said in a special edition of the
Porta a Porta show on Raiuno.
"We urge the pope, like other leaders, to work for a just peace
but first we must do all the rest", he said, stressing that it
didn't make sense to try to involve Russia in dialogue now.
"You can't do mediation with Putin, no country in the world can
do it".
