Pope Fracis on Thursday told Turkish
President Erdogan he hoped for a two-state solution to the
Middle East crisis.
A phone call, requested by Erdogan, focused on the "dramatic
situation in the Holy Land" amid the Israel-Hamas war, said
Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni.
"The Pope expressed his sorrow for what is happening and
recalled the position of the Holy See, hoping that it will be
possible to arrive at a two-state solution and a special status
for the city of Jerusalem."
