Violence in Gaza risks creating
obstacles to Israel's security, President Sergio Mattarella said
Wednesday.
"We are concerned at the situation in the Middle East after the
baleful day of shame of October 7, a day of disgrace, with
Hamas's attacks against harmless citizens, children, women and
the elderly and then Israel's reaction with very grave suffering
for the population in Gaza," he said on the first stage of his
African trip in Abidjan, the capital of Cote d'Ivoire.
"A condition that risks creating obstacles instead of easing the
possibility of building a Palestinian state, for which only the
'two people two state' solution remains.
