Italian sources said at the G7 summit
Friday that the Group of Seven must become a spokesperson for a
new strategy on migrants.
For Italy "it is necessary for the G7 to act as spokesperson at
the international level for a new strategy that develops along
various lines, starting with the fight against human
traffickers, who feed the flows of illegal immigration and
represent a new form of slavery", said the sources.
They noted that during the G7 Summit session devoted to
migration, the leaders expressed "unanimous appreciation for the
Italian Presidency's decision to introduce, for the first time,
the governance of migration flows into the work of the Group of
Seven".
