No machine can ever take human lives,
Pope Francis told a Group of Seven session on artificial
intelligence Friday, the first pope to attend a G7 summit.
"In a drama such as armed conflicts, it is urgent to rethink the
development and use of devices such as so-called 'lethal
autonomous weapons' in order to ban their use, starting already
with a proactive and concrete effort to introduce more and more
meaningful human control," Francis said in his address to the G7
at the Borgo Egnazia resort and event venue in Puglia.
"No machine should ever choose to take the life of a human
being," he warned.
