About fifty migrants are missing
after the sailing boat on which they were travelling capsized
about one hundred miles off the coast of Calabria, Italian
coastguard sources said Monday.
A merchant ship came to the boat's rescue and subsequently
transferred the 12 surviving migrants onto a Coast Guard unit
that then landed in Roccella Ionica in Calabria.
The body of a woman who died after falling into the sea also
arrived in port.
The search for the missing persons has now been activated, but,
at the moment, none have been recovered.
