(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, May 4 - Tunisian fruit exports did very
well in the first 5 months of the year.
According to figures published by the Tunisian agricultural
ministry, fruit exports rose by 180% on the same period in the
previous year, with a 97% increase in value.
Between January 2 and May 2, some 1,342.4 tons of fruit were
exported to foreign markets, worth 7.7062 billion dinars,
compared with 478.7 tons worth 3.9152 billion dinars in the same
period in 2017.
These figures, the Tunisian ministry noted, are explained by
the return of the Libyan market, which imports about 40% of
Tunisian fruit exported, as well as an increase to Italy
(+160%), Qatar (+1,070%), new markets such as Belgium and the
Sultanate of Oman. (ANSAmed).
