(ANSAmed) - ROME, JUNE 4 - Haut et Fort, or 'Casablanca
Beats' in English, is a film by Nabyl Ayouch in the official
competition of the 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
This will be the first time since 1962 that a Moroccan film will
be in the running for the top award.
Set in a cultural center in an outskirts, Les Etoiles de Sidi
Moumen, the film focuses on the young people in the
rough-and-tumble poor area of Morocco's financial capital and an
elderly professor who arrives to teach hip-hop.
The center was founded in 2014 by Mahi Binebine, a Moroccan
artist and writer, after the success of a book written by
Binebine, on which Ayouch has based another one of his
successful films, "Horses of God". (ANSAmed).
