(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 22 - Entries of non-EU citizens into Italy
plunged by 40% last year on the previous year, ISTAT said
Friday.
Just 106,503 new stay permits were issued to non-EU citizens in
2020, the lowest number in the last 10 years, the stats agency
said.
Permits for study were down 58.1% and for asylum by 51%.
ISTAT said fewer foreigners came, but the number of 'new
Italians' rose by 4.1%, with 119,000 non-EU citizens gaining
Italian citizenship. (ANSA).
