(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, MARCH 21 - Montenegrin President
Milo Djukanovic expressed heightened fears of possible
repercussions on the Balkans from the armed conflict in Ukraine.
He again accused Serbia and the Serbian Orthodox Church of
being the great supporters of Russian interests in the Western
Balkans.
In an interview with the Greek daily Kathimerini reported by
the press in Belgrade, Djukanovic said the crisis in the region
could worsen mainly due to the weak link represented by
Bosnia-Herzegovina, with its constant domestic problems and
threats of secession by Republika Srpska, the majority Serb
entity.
Djukanovic said the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina is
in vain.
"North Macedonia and Albania have not yet started EU
accession negotiations, and in Montenegro for five to six years
a political crisis has persisted due to of the destructive
action of Russia and 'Greater Serbia'," he said.
Noting that the Serbian Orthodox Church follows the Russian
Orthodox Church, which openly supports the invasion of Ukraine,
Djukanovic denounced the action of pro-Russian forces in Serbia,
Montenegro and Republika Srpska, which organize rallies in
support of Vladimir Putin and glorify the "heroic deeds" of the
Russian army.
"Serbia is, unfortunately, an open supporter of the Kremlin
in the Western Balkans, and Belgrade is one of the few European
capitals, if not the only one, which has not condemned the
Russian aggression and which has not adhered to the sanctions
policy of the European Union , despite being a candidate country
for EU accession. The story of neutrality (Serbian, ed.) is for
children," Djukanovic said.(ANSAmed).
